Review Policy

Thank you for considering me as a possible reviewer for your book(s). If you would like to send me a book to review, please email me with a synopsis of the book. (literaryloves@outlook.com). I’m usually happy to participate in blog tours, post guest posts, conduct author interviews, and/or hold giveaways in conjunction with reading and reviewing the promoted book. Please note that I only respond to pitches that I choose to accept.

If you have a particular time frame in which you’d like the review to be published on my blog, please state in your original email request. I do have a rough review schedule and it can be tweaked, but it is not fun to receive a book in the mail and then an email a week later asking for the review to be published soon. I will review at my own pace unless otherwise requested.

Generally, I am interested in reviewing books within the following genres:

  • Contemporary/Literary Adult fiction
  • Young Adult fiction
  • Fantasy/Sci-Fi
  • Women’s fiction
  • Historical fiction
  • Mystery (but not gritty, violent crime)
  • Poetry

Generally, I am NOT interested in reviewing non-fiction, unless it is somehow related to fiction (author auto/biographies, books about books, that sort of thing).

I have a Kindle and an iPad and will consider accepting specific review copies in electronic form. I also regularly listen to audio books and would be happy to accept review copies in audio book form. I typically publish my reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. If you’d like me to publish the review elsewhere I’m happy to accommodate.

By accepting a review copy of a book, I do not guarantee that I’ll finish it if it turns out to not be for me. If I do finish the book, I’ll review it honestly on this site. If I do not finish a book for any reason, I’ll do my best to ensure that it finds its way into the hands of another interested reader, usually through a giveaway on this site or Twitter. I may or may not read and review unsolicited books.

Rating System

I rate books based on a five-star scale.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Loved it! Everyone must read this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Mostly brilliant
⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Worth a look
⭐️⭐️= Mostly harmless
⭐️ = Unnecessary waste of a tree

This is a personal scale that reflects my perception of the book immediately after finishing it, rather than a comparison to other books I’ve read.
